Milwaukee, Wis. – Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin kicks off its ninth annual PB&J Challenge at General Mitchell Elementary in Cudahy on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.  Our own “Alex Trebek,” John Steinmiller, Vice President of Business Operations of the Milwaukee Bucks, will challenge the students with a crunchy and creamy version of America’s Favorite Quiz Show. Whatever the outcome, all kids are winners as they collect peanut butter and jelly by the ton for hungry kids in eastern Wisconsin through the PB&J Challenge 2011.  Stickee, the PB&J mascot, and Bango, the Milwaukee Bucks mascot, will be on hand to kick off this great program.

The PB&J Challenge is a food drive that encourages elementary and middle school children to collect peanut butter and jelly at their local school to help feed hungry kids.  A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a simple meal packed with protein.  In eastern Wisconsin, 105,000 children rely on Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for food.

Schools collecting the most peanut butter and jelly during the month of October will be honored at halftime of a Milwaukee Bucks game, to be determined. The public can donate peanut butter and jelly at participating Pick ’n Save stores in the barrels featuring Bango, the Milwaukee Bucks mascot, throughout the month of October. Donations can also be made online at www.feedingamericawi.org.

A special thanks to our PB&J Challenge partners Brownberry, Jif, Smuckers, Kemps, FOX6, Pick ’n Save and the Milwaukee Bucks.
