Take Steps to Help Feed Hungry Families

WHAT: 2.5 mile hike to raise money and awareness about hunger in Wisconsin

WHO: Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (formerly named America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin)

WHEN: September 26, 2009, 9:00 a.m. Registration, 10:00 a.m. Walk Begins, *Best Photo Opportunity: 10:00 – 10:30

WHERE: Veterans Park, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive

WHY: 235,000 people rely on Feeding America for food, 87,000 of whom are children.

Milwaukee, Wis. - Join Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin during Hunger Action Month for the Seventh Annual Hike for Hunger on September 26, 2009. Take a step in the right direction to help alleviate hunger for thousands of families in Wisconsin. Hike for Hunger begins at the pavilion at the end of Lagoon Drive. Walkers will follow a path around the lagoon and along the lakefront. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10.a.m. Walk-up registration is $25.

Due to a struggling economy, demand for food is up 21% this year. Walkers can help make a difference by participating in Hike for Hunger. Each pledge dollar raised during Hike for Hunger provides 5 meals to hungry people in our community. Anyone who raises $150 or more in pledges will be entered in a special drawing. Take the first step and help us tell hunger to take a hike! Sponsors for the walk include US Bank, TCF Bank, Hupy & Abraham, Journal Communications, Byneset Consulting and Milwaukee County Parks.
