Good Morning America Arrives in Waukesha With Truckloads of Food for America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin
Milwaukee, WI- Good Morning America arrived in Waukesha on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 to surprise a lucky family as part of the “GMA At Your House” segment. In addition to this visit with the Schmitt family, Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, Chris Cuomo and Sam Champion unveiled a surprise for America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin, two truckloads of food. Kraft generously donated 25,000 boxes of macaroni and cheese and Wal-Mart delivered a truckload of apples. “At a time when unemployment is skyrocketing and more and more people are finding themselves in line at a food pantry for their next meal, this donation couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Bonnie Bellehumeur, president of America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin. Demand for food is up 26% from the food bank. “Many of the programs we provide food to are serving double the number of people they did six months ago,” she added.
After the show, the two truckloads of food will be delivered to America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin, located at 1700 W. Fond du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee.
