Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Launches its Second Annual Food for the Holidays Campaign

Milwaukee, Wis. – Feeding American Eastern Wisconsin launched its Second Annual Food for the Holidays campaign on November 7, 2011. The holidays conjure up warm, cozy feelings about celebrations with family and friends; this usually includes time spent around the table enjoying a fulfilling meal. While this may be how many of us spend our holidays, families struggling to pay their bills are often turning to their local pantry for a holiday meal. This year, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Associated Bank are on a million meal mission to provide 1,000,000 meals to people struggling with hunger in eastern Wisconsin.
Last year, Associated Bank partnered with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for the first Food for the Holidays campaign and helped the food bank provide 817,000 meals to families in need. With the need for food up 21% in the past two years, more families are forced to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table. This is why Feeding America and Associated Bank have chosen to set the bar higher with a goal of 1,000,000 meals this holiday season.

330,000 people in eastern Wisconsin rely on food supplied by Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin each year. The food bank is the largest, private, nonprofit distributor of food in the state.
