Food Show Recovery & Gleaning
On Wednesday, October 29 from 3:30-6:00 p.m., Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is looking for six volunteers to help gather food for those in need at the Gordon Food Service Food Show. At the conclusion of the show, volunteers will walk the event floor to collect leftover, unused and unopened food items and pack them into boxes for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
The event takes place at Wisconsin Center. Volunteers should be able to bend and lift 10-30 lbs. Volunteers should dress comfortably. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Pahoua Xiong, Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or 414-831-6326.
Drumstick Dash 5K Packet Pick-Up

The Drumstick Dash 5K is a fun Thanksgiving morning tradition! You can be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the big race on Wednesday, November 26 at Packet Pick-Up. Volunteers will help athletes pick up event information, race bib numbers and their participant shirt. This event at Miller Park benefits Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Your efforts will help raise needed funds for Feeding America to feed people throughout the holiday season and beyond. A cotton long-sleeved shirt will be provided to volunteers. There are two shifts for Packet Pick-Up:
- 11:30 am to 2:45 pm
- 3:15 to 6:30 pm
Drumstick Dash 5K - Race Day Activities
Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27, 2014
Join us for Drumstick Dash, a fun Thanksgiving day tradition! This 5K run/walk on Thursday, November 27 will benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Your efforts will help raise much needed funds for Feeding America that will help feed people throughout the holiday season and beyond. The event is at Miller Park and we need 100 volunteers to staff the event. A cotton long-sleeved shirt will be provided to volunteers. The time frame varies by position but generally speaking help is needed from 6:30 am to 12 noon. Volunteer positions include:
- Water Stations
- Packet Pick-Up
- Course Marshals
- Ask Me/Information Booth
- Runner Services
- Event Wrap-up/Clean-up
Ongoing Weekday Group Opportunities
Many of our food donations need to be labeled or sorted. Volunteer opportunities for groups of 10-30 people are available to help with these projects. Groups are scheduled for a 3 hour shift on weekday mornings or afternoons. These opportunities are scheduled in advance based on the needs of our operations department.
